concrete

What is concrete

Concrete derived from French language BETONE which refers to any material or compound consisting of a cementitious adhesive. Concrete may be made of cement, pozzolans, furnace slag, sulfur, additives, polymers, fibers, etc. In its construction method may be used heat, water vapor, autoclave, vacuum, and hydraulic pressures.

Ingredient

Aggregates in concrete makeup about three-quarters of the volume, and based on mass, cement mortar and water make a quarter. lightweight aggregates divide the concrete usage into three categories.

Low volume aggregates (Lightweight) used in lightweight concrete processing. Like pumice, tuff, diatomite, clay, shale, etc. High volume aggregates for making heavy concrete. For example, serpentine, magnetite, steel, iron, barite, limonite and medium-sized and medium-weight aggregates used in the manufacture of general concrete mixes.

Concrete mix design

From the perspective of how concrete is produced, they can be separated into a dry and wet mix design.

In the dry design, at the production station, cement and aggregates are combined dryly according to the required weight ratios, after transfer to a mixer or truck mixer to dry concrete, water is added and by turning the mixer, ready-mixed concrete is used. Truck mixer used to carry concrete from such stations must also have a water storage compartment.

Dry concrete is also used for the production of cement blocks, concrete kerb, and concrete paving.

In wet mix design, aggregates, cement, and water are combined in the concrete pot at the processing station and the concrete transferred to the truck mixer is ready for use immediately. In Iran, the wet concrete system is more common than the dry design system. Below are sections of the wet concrete station for general concrete processing, which is common in most concrete workshops.
